My long food rant…
One bad thing about living on my own is that I don’t really cook and if I do it’s more like pasta rather then the Spanish feasts I grew up with. However, since I am Hispanic, anything I make should technically be “Spanish Food”…right?
Well one meal I miss the most is anything with Arepa. Arepa is a corn cake or corn tortilla type thing that you can have with pretty much any kind of topping you want and the Arepas themselves can be sweet or salty. I’m used to having Arepas for breakfast with Colombian cheese and ground beef or scrambled eggs.
I try to have “family time” on Saturday mornings because that’s when my mom has the energy to make a huge Colombian Feast and my dad makes the most amazing coffee.
They’re pretty easy to make, but I still refuse to make them myself. Nothing is as good as my momma’s Arepas.
I suggest anyone reach out to their local Spanish Restaurants and hunt down an Arepa. Each Country has their own style of Arepa, so go crazy and culturally explore some food. Some Spanish markets sell them frozen and ready made, but you should definitely go for a fresh one the first time around.
I didn’t follow the series much after the first book, but this made me chuckle.
Roar…
Yeah, definitely not the same effect on me as it is on cute little toddlers.
Three reasons why I LOVE this picture:
1) The baby is freaking adorable and I think if I had a child with my boyfriend she would look like this but with a natural tan.
2) I love babies with funny hats, I wish my job were to take pictures of babies with funny hats.
3) I wish I could wear funny hats and look this cute.
